Why Hypnosis?

I don’t want to cluck like a chicken. . .

Dr Stephanie H. Lipnicki, DACM, LAc, Certified Hypnotist

When I started out as a high school senior on the path to learning massage therapy, each of our classes began with meditation. I was immediately hooked.

I periodically hosted morning meditations when I could fit them in over the years when my children were little. When I taught massage therapy at Gentle Healing School of Massage, all of my classes began with meditation.

I still love hosting meditations. I love combining meditation with Acupuncture.

Over the pandemic when everyone’s stress levels were exploding,  I looked to find additional ways to help patients achieve deeper states of relaxation and to be able to help them from the comfort of their home.

I found answers in Hypnosis and took a course in Hypnosis and HypnoSomatic Acupuncture to have another method of helping people on their path to wellness.

Hypnosis is NOT clucking like a chicken or barking like a dog. It isn’t putting someone under a spell. It’s not forcing anyone to do anything outside of their own free will.

Hypnosis is a way to help reinforce positive things we need in our lives as well as help us to break habits that aren’t helping us live our best lives but that perhaps we are having trouble navigating the changes we need. During Hypnosis you are in a trance-like state, you are awake, and your concentration and sense of focus is heightened.

You might not even realize that you have already been in a state of hypnosis. If you have ever driven somewhere and arrived at your destination and thought, “how did I get here” (in my mind this was sung like The Talking Heads) you have been in a state of self-hypnosis.

All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. A practitioner cannot make you do anything that you or your subconscious mind doesn’t already want to do. You always have free will under hypnosis.

What can hypnosis help with?

  • Stress and Anxiety

  • Insomnia

  • Stress eating/ Weight

  • Pain reduction/ Chronic Pain

  • Smoking Cessation

  • Phobias

  • And more

I like to think of hypnosis as meditation taken to a higher level. The state of relaxation you are in post-session is a phenomenal feeling.

AND to make things even more relaxing, the benefits of combining Hypnosis and Acupuncture takes healing to an entirely higher level.

Is everyone a good candidate for hypnosis? No. If someone has suffered a brain trauma, has cognitive deficits, those suffering hallucinations or delusions, if someone has a condition for which surgical intervention is required (although the hypnosis can help with pain during recovery and in preparation for surgery), persons under the influence of drugs or alcohol, those suffering from dementia, and persons with personality or psychosis disorders are considered instances where Hypnosis is not advised.

Sessions can incorporate visualizations that help take calm and relaxation to deeper levels. If you love the beach, your sessions can include parts that deepen relaxation by taking your journey to relaxing at the sea. If you hate bugs, we won’t be walking through a quiet forest. The journey into hypnosis will be a unique experience designed for you.

If you want to take your healing to the next level, consider trying Hypnosis or Hypnosis and Acupuncture. You can schedule sessions for Hypnosis virtually. All Hypnosis and Acupuncture sessions are in person.
