Potato Days
Cute potatoes with drawn eyes

If you didn’t catch my guest appearance on Alycia Yerves’ podcast -and yes I do still have my own podcast but was lucky enough to be a featured guest on her podcast - we talked about Potato days. Take a listen here after you finish reading.
What is a potato day? It’s a day where you let your body, mind, and spirit rest and reset. And let’s face it, in addition to the hustle and bustle of every day life - the world feels extra heavy lately.
Monday I spent the day like a potato. I couldn’t even get out of bed before 2 pm. Why? Because to kick off my (and Andrew’s) birthday month I got us tickets to Letters Live. Look it up - its hysterical. BUT on Saturday morning Rhianna texted me that she got us tickets to see Boop the Musical. Well, 2 days in a row back and forth to NYC - I needed a potato day. And I have an event in town THIS Saturday so yeah, I need to conserve some energy.

But, the purpose of this blog today is to share ways that you can have “potato days” that recharge your battery even more than just watching TV - IF you need a little more TLC. Which for me, I always need more TLC.
Ways to be like a potato and grow:
Of course, getting Acupuncture (come on you knew I was going to include my most favorite tool) will help to reset the sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight) and move you into the parasympathetic rest and reset mode. In the words of Katy Perry,
“I get a lot of the ideas when I'm resting - either when I'm meditating or getting some kind of work done on my back, like physical therapy or acupuncture. That's where I get my best ideas, maybe because I'm balancing my body.”
Elevate your legs - if you are exhausted, can’t seem to refill your cup fast enough, elevate your legs and feet. Counter gravity. Help improve circulation, and listen to a meditation track (preferably one of my recorded ones from a zoom you attended)
Color. Grab a coloring book and some crayons, markers, or colored pencils and color. Sweary coloring books are perfect for adult potato days. Color in the lines, outside the lines, let your creativity flow
15 minutes of sunlight - boost that vitamin D. Let the sun solar charge you. Even if you go outside, and stay in the shade, the sun will still solar charge you! (Make sure you have sunblock on your face - I don’t want to see you in my office turning into a leather handbag)
Partake in a hobby you love that doesn’t sap more energy. I like to crochet now, I play games on my phone to decompress, I love reading. Something that feels nourishing but not exhausting.
TAKE THE NAPS!!!!! If you need to take a nap - take a nap. You will have more energy for when you come out of the depleted state and be able to do so much more physically and mentally.
As always, I am here if you need help with a potato day. Whether you come see me in person, or you take a zoom hypnosis class, I have so many tools to help you on the path to wellness.
Be well! See you in the treatment room! And enjoy your potato day!
